Surround Ali with Thoughts and Prayers…

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything.
Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done.”
Phillipians 4:6

The girls of the Ali Lengenfelder family will be spending some time together in Minnesota this week, and Jodi and I are reaching out far and wide to surround Ali and her family with thoughts and prayers.

On Monday, Ali will undergo tests throughout the entire day. The girls will be busy running from appointment to appointment and then they begin the waiting game. They will not get results on Ali’s scan until Tuesday afternoon.

As Jodi often says, “Sometimes we feel helpless when others have to go through something. Doing something like rising to a challenge helps us feel more involved in helping others.” Tuesday is going to be one of those days for us and we wanted to reach out to everyone once again and have you wear/display a little something blue to remember Ali throughout the day on Tuesday. Blue was the color Ali chose when she began her fight against cancer earlier this year; therefore, blue is the color we are choosing for Tuesday.

Do we need to paint our faces blue to rise to this challenge? No of course not. Just toss on a blue pair of earrings, a t-shirt, a piece of string on the wrist worn as a bracelet, a blue ribbon on your doorknob, or whatever you can think of to remind you of Ali on Tuesday.  We would love to have you post a comment here or email us to let us know you are joining the challenge.  We like to compile a list and share it with those we are supporting.

If you have not been following Ali’s story, you can read about this young girls fight against cancer and her families amazing faith throughout the entire process at  http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/alilengenfelder/journal.

Ali’s Mom shared the following Bible verse on Thursday as she was preparing for the trip.  I noticed it tied into the verse I recalled as I was searching for inspiration for this post…

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be given you besides. Do not worry about tomorrow; tomorrow will take care of itself…”  Matthew 6:33-34

Love them EVERY chance you get…

Anyone that matters to you can be gone in an instant.

Our community has been overwhelmed with tragedies in the last couple of weeks. It all began when a 42 year old woman from another city was killed in a motorcycle accident just miles outside of our hometown. Shortly after, a 35 year old friend was killed in a motor vehicle roll over and yesterday an 18 year old (graduated a month ago) was killed in a one vehicle accident.

These tragedies are all disconnected from one another but hitting our community in so many ways.

I just wanted to tell EVERYONE that I know to cherish each and every moment because there is absolutely no way of knowing if you will have another moment to share with someone, another moment to say sorry, another moment to say I love you, another moment to…

Let’s bring our communities together….and Make a Difference

June 25th, 2010 Posted in Making a Difference

Our local communities have seen a lot of heartache lately and I know I personally feel so helpless as how to help so many going through such hard times.

We all know prayers and support are amazing things and so I ask you to join me, not only in prayer, but in showing your support by hanging a blue ribbon at your home or business place to show everyone in our communities how much they are loved, supported and being prayed for.

Blue is the color of unity, peace, and harmony, which is exactly what I believe we all need right now.  Let’s bring our communities together and by displaying our ribbons, may all of our local families and friends going through such hard times be reminded of how much we care.  This is a small way that we can all come together and Make a Difference.

Please feel free to post the names of those you are praying for, events you are thankful for, or any other comments, so that we may all join you in prayer and thanks.

God bless you all!

Hi everyone! For those of you following Baby Shay Dschaak’s caringbridge site and praying for them, I am happy to report that Baby Shay and her mommy are now home in Hettinger and things are going well! There is going to be a Lasagna Benefit Dinner  for the Dschaak family on Sunday, April 25 starting at 11:00 a.m. and there is also a benefit fund set up at Dakota Plains Federal Credit Union in Hettinger to help defray medical costs.  If you have any other ideas of how to help the Dschaak family, please go to http://helpchelseagive.ning.com/  and post your ideas.  This is a very amazing site dedicated to others and for making a difference. Former Bowmanite/Scrantonite, and my new employer, Chelsea Perkins Moser, created helpchelseagive.org and is very passionate about helping others. Not only can you leave information/ideas for the Dschaak family, but please feel free to sign up and become a member (it costs you nothing) and check back often to see what Chelsea and her amazing consultant, Jessica Haefner, are up to. If there are any other events going on in your community or anyone you feel would benefit from the services of helpchelseagive.org, please feel free to post/blog those ideas also!  You just never know how someone across the United States might be able to help someone in your own community! Remember, it only takes one person to make a difference and to start the pay-it-forward effect!  So many times we feel helpless and don’t know how to help someone in need, and here is the perfect place to come together and see what a difference we can make!
