Trevin Bracelets and Prayer Needs

April 29th, 2010 Posted in Prayer Requests, TouchingYourHeart updates

Trevin Bracelets... Please post a comment if you wish to purchase.

Trevin Ficek is the son of Liza and Jeremy from Bowman.  Trevin was born February 11th with bilateral vocal fold paralysis and has been in Rochester under the careful care of expert doctors.  Trevin now has a trach tube and requires around the clock care and LOVE.  Please refer to http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/trevinficek for his full story.

Liza and Jeremy have a couple of important prayer requests.  The first is for a MIRACLE and that Trevin’s vocal fold function will be fully restored and he will be able to breathe without the trach.  Until then, the need is for nursing staff to help care for Trevin to be put in place so they can return to the southwest corner of ND to stay with Jeremy’s Grandma in Dickinson. If you know of anyone who is in the nursing profession in the Dickinson area have them contact the nursing agency that is taking Trevin’s case at 605-595-5018 (ask for Sheila).

Trevin Bracelets

The Speech Team at Bowman County High School is selling Trevin Bracelets (rubber baller bands) to raise money to help Jeremy and Liza defray medical costs.  For me, the bracelet is more than just a way to raise money but more of a way to remind me to say prayers for Trevin throughout the day. When someone asks what the bracelet  is for, I tell them about Trevin and tell them to say prayers for him too.   If you would like a Trevin Bracelet please leave a comment below and I will get bracelets and we can mail them and deliver them as needed.  The bracelets are selling for $2 each.

Trevin Medical Account Set Up

An account has been set up at Dakota Community Bank to help the Ficek family defray medical costs.  You can make donations by contacting any of the branches of DCB.  A list of locations can be found at https://www.dakotacommunitybank.com/about-us/locations.

Too short…

…and uncertain.

Today was one of those days that reminded me how precious each moment is and that we need to cherish every moment and LIVE while we have the chance.

I was rushing around the house getting ready and the news reported a military plane crash.  I caught only bits and pieces of the story but worried immediately about my college friend Wendy and her husband (he is an Air Force Pilot).  The bits and pieces I heard led me to worry because I heard the word Florida and she recently moved there.  I checked it out and as happy as I was to figure out it was not my friend’s husband, I realized there were families who were just hearing the news themselves and saddened by the fact that their loved one’s lives had been tragically cut short.

While I was searching to find out about the crash, I received an email from my dear friend, Sheila, from Bison, South Dakota.  She said in very simple words, Mrs. Huber had a massive heart attack and died on Saturday.

Mrs. Huber was a 56 year old English teacher in Bison.  Sheila said,”There is a big empty hole in the community and in the school.”

Her funeral is tomorrow at 11.  Please say a prayer for the students and families in Bison tomorrow as they say farewell to a lady who gave herself to the school system.

The students were getting ready to perform the yearly play these last few weeks.  They had a performance on Thursday and were to perform again Friday evening.  Mrs. Huber was taken to the hospital on Friday.  When the students found out Mrs. Huber was not going to make it, they put on their game faces and pulled off one of the best performances seen in Bison school history.  They did it for the teacher they loved.

As the day progressed, I learned that one of our teachers was going to be attending her 31 year old nephews funeral.  I know nothing about this young man, just that his life with those here on earth was too short.  Please say a prayer for his family as well.

How do we know what the next day will bring us?  We don’t.  All we know is we have only one moment to live and that is the moment we are in.  Life is too short and uncertain to let any of those moments pass by without making sure we have embraced it and LIVED it.

May God Bless… Mrs. Huber’s family, the families of those lost in the military plane crash, Annette’s family (31 year old nephew).

Prayer Requests

April 12th, 2010 Posted in Prayer Requests

I just wanted to ask that the following people be added to your bullet prayer list.  I don’t have details for you, just know that these people need prayers.

-DonnaMarie Dettman’s Mom is not feeling well.  So please pray for DonnaMarie, her mom, and the rest of her family as they learn more about what is going on.

-Clarence Kitzen needs prayers to fight cancer.

-Rozlyn Knudsvig (3rd grade teacher at Bowman County) has not been feeling well.  Please pray for her as she heads to Minnesota for further testing.

-Annette and Mark Ballard will also be traveling to Minnesota but for two purposes… a family funeral and medical appointments for Mark.  Please pray for their family as they travel, as they grieve and as they learn more from the doctors in MN.

May God Bless each of you.

Take Care of You! ~Robin
