Touching Your Heart

The girls of the Ali Lengenfelder family will be spending some time together in Minnesota this week, and Jodi and I are reaching out far and wide to surround Ali and her family with thoughts and prayers.

On Monday, Ali will undergo tests throughout the entire day. The girls will be busy running from appointment to appointment and then they begin the waiting game. They will not get results on Ali’s scan until Tuesday afternoon.

As Jodi often says, “Sometimes we feel helpless when others have to go through something. Doing something like rising to a challenge helps us feel more involved in helping others.” Tuesday is going to be one of those days for us and we wanted to reach out to everyone once again and have you wear/display a little something blue to remember Ali throughout the day on Tuesday. Blue was the color Ali chose when she began her fight against cancer earlier this year; therefore, blue is the color we are choosing for Tuesday.

Do we need to paint our faces blue to rise to this challenge? No of course not. Just toss on a blue pair of earrings, a t-shirt, a piece of string on the wrist worn as a bracelet, a blue ribbon on your doorknob, or whatever you can think of to remind you of Ali on Tuesday.  We would love to have you post a comment here or email us to let us know you are joining the challenge.  We like to compile a list and share it with those we are supporting.

Ali’s Mom shared the following Bible verse on Thursday as she was preparing for the trip.  I noticed it tied into the verse I recalled as I was searching for inspiration for this post…

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be given you besides. Do not worry about tomorrow; tomorrow will take care of itself…”  Matthew 6:33-34

Trevin Bracelets... Please post a comment if you wish to purchase.

Trevin Ficek is the son of Liza and Jeremy from Bowman.  Trevin was born February 11th with bilateral vocal fold paralysis and has been in Rochester under the careful care of expert doctors.  Trevin now has a trach tube and requires around the clock care and LOVE.  Please refer to http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/trevinficek for his full story.

Liza and Jeremy have a couple of important prayer requests.  The first is for a MIRACLE and that Trevin’s vocal fold function will be fully restored and he will be able to breathe without the trach.  Until then, the need is for nursing staff to help care for Trevin to be put in place so they can return to the southwest corner of ND to stay with Jeremy’s Grandma in Dickinson. If you know of anyone who is in the nursing profession in the Dickinson area have them contact the nursing agency that is taking Trevin’s case at 605-595-5018 (ask for Sheila).

Trevin Bracelets

The Speech Team at Bowman County High School is selling Trevin Bracelets (rubber baller bands) to raise money to help Jeremy and Liza defray medical costs.  For me, the bracelet is more than just a way to raise money but more of a way to remind me to say prayers for Trevin throughout the day. When someone asks what the bracelet  is for, I tell them about Trevin and tell them to say prayers for him too.   If you would like a Trevin Bracelet please leave a comment below and I will get bracelets and we can mail them and deliver them as needed.  The bracelets are selling for $2 each.

Trevin Medical Account Set Up

An account has been set up at Dakota Community Bank to help the Ficek family defray medical costs.  You can make donations by contacting any of the branches of DCB.  A list of locations can be found at https://www.dakotacommunitybank.com/about-us/locations.

What is this all about?  Good question and I hope to answer some of this for you.  The parts that I can anyway.

Would you like an email sent to you each time a post is made on each and every part of touchingyourheart.net or would you rather only get updates on the prayer list.  Maybe you want to see my 26 Things posts (when I finally get some up) and would rather not see the Brain Teasers on Fridays.  Maybe you love Jodi’s Thank the Lord and that is all you can handle in your “Inbox” right now.

We have a solution, we hope.  Email Subscriptions (much like those from Caringbridge.com).

Here’s how we do it the long winded version… skip ahead for the short numbered list… it is up to you.

On the left hand side of your touchingyourheart.net home page you will see the word “Register”.  CLICK on it.

Type in a username (your choice and no rules) and your email address (will not be shared).  Click “Register”

An email will come from our host address and will say your registration is complete.  This is where you will be given a password (you can change this horribly random group of digits generated by a computer when you log in).  Hang on to this information (at least until you change it to something easier to remember).

Return to touchingyourheart.net and click log in.  This is your profile and where you can change your password.  The password change is at the bottom of your profile information.

To subscribe to all or some of the updates via email, you will again go to the left hand side of your screen.  Find the word “Subscriptions”.  Click the options you want to have sent to you as they are updated and then click “Update Preferences”.  Voila!

1. Click on “Register” (left side of screen)
2. Type in a Username and email address (will not be shared)
3. Click on “Register” button.
4. An email will be sent to you with a password.  SAVE this message until you change password.

9. Click check boxes for the updates you wish to receive.

Hi everyone! Yep, here we go again. Robin has been doing some behind the scenes work and trying to get us, Touching Your Heart.net, going again in a different format. She came up with the idea of a blog-form and I think she is right about this. (She is so darn smart!) So, once again, we are asking you to bear with us as we attempt something new yet again. Thanks for all of your patience in our neverending journey with touchingyourheart.net! We have a lot to learn and a few tweaks here and there that I am sure we will need to do along the way….but in reality, isn’t that what life is all about? Patience, journeys and a bit of tweaking our lives along the way?

Looking forward to continuing our journeys together….
