Why wear/display GREEN on Tuesday, July 26 for Lindsey?

Why wear GREEN for Lindsey on Tuesday, July 26?

Over the years, we at www.touchingyourheart.net have found that doing fun challenges has lifted the spirits of many and brought many smiles to the faces of those who we are doing the challenge for.  We find that by challenging people to wear/display the person’s favorite color, it brings a sense of “Community/Friendship” together and makes everyone feel like they are a part of something big….they are able to FINALLY do something to help.  AND…THE BEST PART IS…..every single time you see that color being displayed or worn, or hear of a new member joining the challenge, you are reminded to send up a quick BULLET PRAYER for that person and her family, you are reminded to send positive thoughts and energy their way…or you might be reminded to send one of them a little email or FB  message to brighten their day…and most times we are reminded that our troubles aren’t so bad and are reminded to send up prayers of thanks for the good in our lives.  Simply, YOU can make a difference in their lives!!

So, remember….wear/display GREEN on Tuesday, July 26 to show your support, love, prayers, positive thoughts and energy for Lindsey and her family as they continue to fight cancer’s a$$ one day at a time :)

{If you aren’t signed up on the Team Lindsey’s Kicking Cancer’s A$$ Challenge page, you can do so by searching for that title in your Facebook search bar and simply clicking on “attending” or let me know by leaving a message here or emailing me at mjativey@ndsupernet.com and I will get you signed up. We are currently at 382 members that will be wearing GREEN!!} Also, be sure to let us know if you would like to join the Team Lindsey Facebook page.  This is a page that Lindsey’s friend Jessi set up for Lindsey to share her journey and for everyone to show their support! It is an amazing page that is currently at 512 members!!!!}  Feel free to share this link with anyone you think would want to show their support for Lindsey and her family!

Team Lindsey’s Kicking Cancer’s A$$ Challenge-The REAL deal :)

Team Lindsey’s Kicking Cancer’s A$$ Challenge

{Lindsey’s story per her post on her Team Lindsey Facebook Page: In sum, I found out a little over a week ago that I have melanoma.  They removed the chunk of my upper right arm and also did a Sentinel Node biopsy. … That biospy showed more cancer cells in the lymph node they removed from my collarbone area.  Next step is removing all nodes from that area and analyzing them all to determine treatment after that.  I’ve been doctoring in the cities and have had my crazy family by my side the entire time.  :)   The next surgery will be with a surgical oncologist at the University of Minnesota. I’ll keep you posted on what I hear next!  Love and hugs, Lindsey}

 Hey everyone…..well….we had an AWESOME pre-game last week….and now it’s time to suit up for the real deal!!!  Lindsey’s 2nd surgery, a supraclavicular lymph node dissection of that “naughty node” has been scheduled for Tuesday, July 26 @ 10:10am at the U of M in the cities under the care of Dr. Tuttle & Dr. Evasovich.  Lindsey is also scheduled for a meeting with Dr. Amatruda (Melanoma Oncologist) for Monday, August 1st to discuss her ”unique” case and treatment options from there on out.

So…..here’s where the challenge comes in again:  We know Lindsey is in this fight to Kick Cancer’s A$$ and we are going to help her!!  We all now know that GREEN is Lindsey’s favorite color so www.touchingyourheart.net is challenging all of  Team Lindsey to wear green and/or display green at your house or business on Tuesday, July 26!!   It can be your shirt, a bracelet that has green in it, a head band, etc.  You can also hang green ribbons outside your house or business.  Be creative!!  Every time you see the green you have on, or each time you see a post or picture from someone wearing green, you will be reminded to send up a bullet prayer and positive thoughts for Lindsey! Just think of how many prayers and positive thoughts we can get going for her!

Feel free to post pictures on the Team Lindsey Facebook page to show how you decided to show your support.  They will give her something fun to look at after surgery! If you are not on Facebook and would like to send Lindsey messages/pictures, please feel free to post them here on our blog and/or email them to Robin or me and we will make sure she gets them!!  Or, If you would like to join the Team Lindsey Facebook page to help support Lindsey on her journey and follow her progress, please let either Robin (robinwelch@bwn.midco.net) or me (mjativey@ndsupernet.com) know and we will add you, as it is a locked group.

Robin is also working on a fun and humorous surprise for Lindsey after she wakes up from surgery, but we want it to be a secret…so if you would like the details early so you can prepare, just send Robin a message on Facebook and she will let you in on the secret!!  {Sorry, Lindsey…you are not allowed in on the secret….but we promise it will be worth the surprise!! We luv ya girl!}

Lindsey Bowman Benefit Fund

July 10th, 2011 Posted in Making a Difference

Hey everyone……while Lindsey and her family are hopefully catching their breath and regrouping a bit from the flurry of emotions and doctors appointments the last few weeks, and while they await the new plan of attack, we thought it would be a great time to remind everyone while we are all still in the GREEN mode about another great way to show our GREEN for Lindsey…….

There has been a Benefit Fund account started for Lindsey to help defray costs incurred during all of these doctor visits, surgeries, time off, etc.   You can drop off or mail donations to any State Bank and Trust location to Lindsey Bowman Benefit Fund.  If you need to mail a check just write it to Lindsey Bowman Benefit Fund and mail it to:

State Bank and Trust | 3100 13th Ave S | Fargo, ND 58103

Spread the word!! Feel free to share this link over and over with whomever you think might be interested and spread the word any way you can think of!! Every little bit will help!

Also a reminder…there was a challenge thrown out by some Team Lindsey members of challenging every member to donate $20 to Lindsey’s fund.  As of right now there are 432 Team Lindsey members and 281 Team Lindsey’s Kicking Cancer’s A@@ Challenge members.  That is a LOT OF GREEN to be donated to help Lindsey out!!  Granted, many are duplicates on both pages, but even if we just went with the 432 on the Team Lindsey page…..that still is a great amount of GREEN support!!  {I am sure Lindsey would be completely thrilled and surprised with ANY amount of money that would be donated.  It doesn’t need to be the full $20 per member.}  GO TEAM LINDSEY….show us the GREEN!!  {And if you are unable to donate monetarily, please continue to wear/show your GREEN, send positive thoughts and energy and prayers Lindsey’s way!  Those are priceless!!}

Nieces are precious…

Sometimes our hearts get tangled

 And our souls a little off-kilter

 Friends and family can set us right

 And help guide us back to the light.

 ~Sera Christann~

We have had the privilege of having my hubby’s sister, her hubby and their adorable three girls here visiting from Washington the last few weeks.  Of course they didn’t come to see just us {lol}, as Kort’s dad lives here and that is the main reason we get to see them quite often….but The Tivey’s have thoroughly enjoyed every minute we have had with them.  They will be heading back to Washington soon and it will be hard to see them go.

We SO enjoy every visit we have with them and are so blessed to be able to see them often enough to watch the girls grow and to learn their personalities.  Tia and Alli {the 2 oldest} have been old enough for a while now to remember us….and for all of you aunties, uncles and cousins out there, you know how much that  means to us.  My heart swells with pride and love each time I see them and I am continually amazed at how much they grow physically and emotionally between visits.

We got to meet little Miss Kennedy Ann {the baby} for the first time a few weeks ago and she has captured our hearts just as fast as her sisters did.  Unfortunately she won’t remember us like her sisters do, but it is enough for my heart knowing all the cuddling and loving, smiles and giggles I got to get in on….. and yes a few cries of “Aunt Jodi…please let me go!! I want my Daddy!”  {Okay, so of course she really couldn’t say those words yet, but believe me, I know that is what she was thinking! LOL}

The picture above cannot possibly capture how much I love these nieces…and ALL of my other nieces and nieces-by-heart…I just hope that they know in their hearts too how very much they are loved.

Thanks to my amazing sister {in law}-Kortney and her hubby, Shane, for sharing their children with us….and thank you Kort, from the bottom of my heart, for always reminding me in the way you live your life and by being the wonderful person you are just how important family is and how important it is to slow down and take in all of these precious moments of life.  I love you!

Lindsey will be undergoing her second melanoma surgery Friday, July 8 and we thought it would be fun  to show our support with a positive challenge to match Lindsey’s amazing attitude on this journey!

With some help from some of Lindsey’s family and friends, we have come up with a few fun ideas to show Lindsey all of the support she has in her fight against Kicking Cancer’s A@@!!  We now know that GREEN is Lindsey’s favorite color, so we thought we would challenge all of Team Lindsey to wear green on Friday. Robin is also working on a fun and humorous surprise for Lindsey after she wakes up from surgery, but we want it to be a secret…so stay tuned on Friday for more details!!!!!

A simple way to help Bismarck-Mandan, Minot and so many other communities…

June 23rd, 2011 Posted in Making a Difference

 Hey everyone……I know for those of us in North Dakota, we are just in awe of what is going on with all of the flooding in our state…..as we all know, we are usually so DRY around here, so this spring and summer have just been so unusual for us.  Unfortunately, so many of our communities in our state and throughout the United States, and entire world in fact,  are going through some terrible flooding situations.  Many of our friends, family and people we don’t even know are going through some heartbreaking times right now and I know many of us are feeling very helpless as we watch the events unfold.  My hubby, daughter and I went about a month ago to Bismarck-Mandan to help sandbag at a friend’s brother’s house and I cannot tell you the impact that left on us.  {That is another story in itself.}  We have since been keeping a close eye on the situation and our hearts continue to break for everyone affected and we continue to feel helpless.  And now Minot and surrounding communites are suffering.

For those of you who have followed our TouchingYourHeart.net blog know that we tend to show ribbons of support for different situations, and yesterday I decided that it was time to show some support once again.  As Robin and I say repeatedly, we know it seems like such a small gesture and nonsignificant to show ribbons, but you would be amazed at how many people truly remember to pray for those affected when they see the ribbons.  We can’t do much from afar, but what we CAN do is to pray, send positive thoughts and to spread the word of support for so many.  If you don’t have any ribbons to display…try wearing a bracelet of those colors, or grab some string in those colors…be creative…anything works….it just needs to remind you to pray and send positive thoughts!  Hope you’ll join us!! Please feel free to share this link with anyone you think might want to join us…and/or feel free to go to our TouchingYourHeart.net Facebook page, or my personal Facebook page -Jodi Tivey and share this with your friends and family!  Remember-it only takes one person to make a difference and to start a movement of showing support!  (I am going to take a “leap of faith” {GULP!!} and post a small version of this post on some of the Bismarck-Mandan-Minot news Facebook pages in hopes of getting more people to join us…even if we get one more…..that is enough to start making a difference!)

Here is what I posted on our TouchingYourHeart.net Facebook page yesterday and on my own Facebook page.  {The picture shows  my green and blue ribbons…picture didn’t turn out that great as the wind was blowing, but hey…what’s new in ND?? LOL}  ~with all my love~Jodi

Many of us are feeling helpless as we watch family, friends & people we have never met fight the flooding in Minot, Bismarck-Mandan & many, many other places. What we CAN do, is to send as many positive thoughts & prayers as possible! I am going to hang blue and green ribbons by my outside door in honor of all of them. {Green signifies compassion & safety and blue signifies faith & hope.} Feel free to join me :) My ribbons will hang as long as prayers, positive thoughts, compassion, safety, faith and hope are needed.
